The first week of the Pepsi Indian Premier League (IPL) was no short of drama and high voltage action as we witnessed some nail biting finishes and some one sided affairs. Here’s a quick recap of the first week:

The defending champions KKR took on Mumbai Indians at the eden gardens in the first match of the tournament. Batting first Mumbai posted a decent total of 168 thanks to Rohit Sharma’s 98 and Corey Anderson’s 53. The chase didn’t start in an ideal way for KKR as they lost Robin Uthappa very early. Manish Pandey and Gautam Gambhir then took control of the situation and KKR won the match by 7 wickets. After getting off to a good start KKR faltered in their second match as they lost to RCB by 3 wickets after Chris Gayle scored 95 for RCB chasing down 178. RCB also went down in the second match as SRH comfortably chased down the target set by RCB. SRH didn’t get off to a winning start as they were crushed by CSK who posted a mammoth total of 209 and SRH couldn’t chase that down.

Like KKR and RCB, CSK also got off to a winning start as they won their first match by just 1 run in an absolute thriller against Delhi Daredevils. The Delhi Daredevils who had made the biggest purchase at the auction buying yuvraj singh for 16 crores didn’t have a great opening week as they lost both their matches. The second match of the Delhi Daredevils was against the Rajasthan Royals. Delhi batted first and posted a very decent total of 184 but unfortunately their bowlers let them down this time and the Rajasthan Royals won the match by 3 wickets.

The Mumbai Indians like last season began their campaign in the worst manner possible losing all 3 matches. After losing against KKR, The Mumbai Indians were up against the runners up of last season Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai were outplayed by Kings XI Punjab as MI lost the match by 18 runs. They lost their third match against RR by 7 wickets thus starting the season in the worst possible manner. Like CSK the Rajasthan Royals also remained unbeaten as they defeated Kings XI Punjab in their first match and Mumbai in their second.

So the first week was packed with action and we hope that the second week offers some more action.
